School may be out for the summer but there is a new program being put together for Youth in the new “Blue Hive” space. StoryTeller: Multimedia & Events are thrilled to present this program as part of the Experience Riverbank initiative, encouraging teens to Get Active, Get Creative and Get Connected across three Saturdays.
The “Get In The Blue Hive” program brings young people (aged 13 to 17) in the new Blue Hive space along the Riverbank Promenade between the Adelaide Festival Centre and the Adelaide Convention Centre.
Miss Phi Theodoros, program director and CEO of StoryTeller: Multimedia & Events, is proud to present the series of workshops in this new venue where she hopes to build The Buzz will be for young people this summer;
“The Blue Hive is such a fantastic new space, I’m incredibly excited to put on this program for youth this summer to encourage them to try something new, develop new skills and make new friends,” says Theodoros
“School’s finished for the year and lots teens don’t know where to look for things to do. Often money and location is an issue, so we hope this free program in a central location offers an interesting mix of things to do whilst giving attendees the chance to meet likeminded people in a safe and fun environment.” Says Theodoros
The series of free workshops encourage youth to Get Active with workshops including; Mixed Martial Arts, Tribal Fusion Belly Dance and Circus Skills and to Get Creative with workshops in Henna Art and Film Making. Perhaps the most exciting part of the program is the Get Connected teen networking sessions around themes like Health & Wellbeing, Arts & Creativity and The Environment with young leaders sharing their experiences.
Alysha Herrmann, Creative Producer of the Expressway Arts program with Carclew Youth Arts, is one of the speakers at the Get Connected creative arts afternoon tea on January 4th. Through her work with Carclew and other youth arts focused organizations Herrmann knows the importance of building relationships and networks as a young, emerging artist.
"Working with emerging artists is one of the most exciting spaces to be working in right now - the passion and the possibility to create some truly exciting work and connections. I'm thrilled to support Get Connected with my learnings so far and looking forward to getting connected myself to a host of new emerging South Australian talent. Bring on the arts revolution!"
