New Funds Will Fuel Firm’s Accelerated Growth in the United States
(Sydney) December 12, 2013 – TheReadingRoom, the leading independent online portal for avid readers to discover new books, today announced that it had successfully completed its latest round of funding, raising $2.75 million through the support of existing shareholders and other private investors.
With this new capital, TheReadingRoom plans to continue to drive membership and implement a range of site enhancements and commercial partnerships. TheReadingRoom also announced that it has relocated its sales and marketing team to the New York City office, including the founder and CEO Kim Anderson, the head of Sales Cara Codemo, and Marketing Director Ben Aronsten. The office is located at 205 Hudson Street, Level 9; New York, NY 10013. TheReadingRoom will retain its offices in London and Sydney.

Kim Anderson is chief Executive of TheReadingRoom.com an online community for readers launched in Beta in late 2009. TheReadingRoom.com enables users to connect with other readers, share their reading experience, find like minded readers, recommend books to each other, join online reading groups, track favourite authors and buy books.
Kim is also a Non-Executive Director of Carsales.com.au and the STW Group.
Kim's career spans a wide range of media development including book, magazine and newspaper publishing, online media, mobile and free to air television including digital and interactive formats.
Kim attended the University of Sydney and UTS before she went on to train as an editor with the Australian Encyclopedia. She was also Managing Editor of the twelve volume Bicentennial History of Australia. Originally based in Sydney as Non-fiction Publisher HarperCollins, Kim has worked for a variety of book publisher and Newspaper proprietors, including John Fairfax and Sons, Prentice Hall, Grolier and Kevin Weldon and Associates. In 1993 she was posted to New York to set up a new media vision for HarperCollins. In 1995 she returned and joined Publishing and Broadcasting Limited to create Australia’s number one online portal ninemsn.com.au. In 2000 Kim transferred to the Nine Network, where she was responsible for breaking new ground in interactive television formats, as well as ensuring the digital transition of Nine to the pay TV platform (Foxtel).
In 2004 Kim joined Southern Star Entertainment as CEO, and was instrumental in creating the digital entity Kim Southern Cross View, creating Australia’s first talk back portal Mytalk.com.au.
Kim has been a Member of the Expert Advisory Panel for Law and the Humanities for the Australian Research Council, a Federation Fellows judge, a Fellow of Senate of The University of Sydney from 2004 – March 2011, Chair of the Senate’s Building and Estates Committee, former Chair of Sydney Talent, and a former director of the Sax Institute, She is also a Non-Executive Director of Carsales.com and The STW Group.
