One of Australia’s leading home designers and builders, Canny, has received top honours at 2013 HIA CSR Victorian Housing and Kitchen & Bathroom Awards this month.
Having already collected the award for Renovation/Addition Over $2 Million, Canny then went on to take out the Overall Renovation/Addition of the Year category.
The home renovation nods were awarded in recognition of the work done on a Federation Arts and Craft era home in Kew, Melbourne.
“This home is a fine example of the high-end, elegant lifestyle homes we seek to create for our clients. The brief included a number of innovative design features and required seamless fusion of the existing heritage and contemporary elements, so we feel honoured to have this home accredited with such an esteemed award.” said Damian Canny, Managing Director.
The renovation combined the preservation of the original period style of the house in the front rooms, with the addition of a modern back area and second storey.
The 560 square metre basement level now houses a half-sized basketball court, rumpus room, guest retreat (including bedroom, sitting area and bathroom), a cellar, gymnasium, a five-car garage and home cinema.
According to HIA judges, “the integration of old and new was seamless. Stunning, impressive with a huge WOW factor.”
These latest awards bring Canny’s tally to eight HIA awards, positioning them as the one to watch at the national HIA awards in May next year.
