The PA Perspective, a Professional Assistant’s definitive guide to Bosses”, will be launched by first-time author Sydnee Sallivan on 16 October 2013 at Martin Place Bar, Sydney, to coincide with International Bosses Day.

Published by Cockatoo Chatter, the book explores the working lives of Professional Assistants and their impact on business, with the goal of providing insights for bosses and PAs into what has been described as “the best job in the world”.

Author Sydnee Sallivan has over 20 years’ experience as a career Professional Assistant and holds two university degrees in International Relations.  Her experience spans several countries and a variety of industries including the corporate and not-for-profit sectors.

Rather than a whinge against “bad bosses”, she wrote The PA Perspective to inspire bosses to become better leaders.

“The book will educate PAs and would-be PAs, and allow bosses to spend a moment in our shoes,” Sallivan says. “I hope this insight will give bosses the impetus to become the leaders and role models all businesses need.”

Sallivan raises issues of workplace bullying, the importance of the boss as a role model and how attitudes shape the working environment, as well as  sharing valuable tips for dealing with your own working environment.

A must-read for PAs, office workers and managers who want to make a difference,  The PA Perspective caricatures individual character traits of bosses -- such as Dodger and Dy’na’mo Jo -- in a way that will have a familiar echo for any PA.

The book will be available for sale directly through the website  www.paperspective.com.au and online book stores.
