Animato's Double Bass contest has come to a close on 20 September 2013. To choose and a winner, the computer randomly chose one point out of thousands of points that were collected by the contestants. The chosen point was then traced back to the contestant who collected it.
At the click of the mouse button, the winner was revealed: Mr Terry Druery, arts teacher at Our Lady of Lourdes Primary School in Sunnybank, won the prize for his school: a 1/4 size double bass outfit.
Mr Druery said that his school was pleased with this unexpected acquisition, as it fulfilled his school's musical needs.
The National Association for Music Education states that the Instrumental Music Program in schools provides children with the opportunity to experience the expressive qualities of music through learning to both play an instrument and to participate in ensembles such as orchestras. Group lessons use the same interactive environment of other school activities and are an efficient way of teaching instrumental music.
With increased musical perception, technical mastery, and aesthetic sensitivity, students are more likely to seek musical experience after leaving school. They will have a wider range of options in vocational choices, leisure pursuits and lifestyle decisions.
Dietrich Lasa indicated that there may be a similar contest each year so that other schools may benefit.
Dietrich Lasa, founder of Animato, immigrated to Australia in 1985 as a professional string player and joined the Queensland Symphony Orchestra before starting his String Instrument business 8 years later.
Animato has been in the business of providing String Instruments for almost 20 years. Animato Strings recently moved from their location on Musgrave Road, Red Hill, to Unit 9 / 62 Bishop Street, Kelvin Grove, QLD 4059.
Animato has been serving private musicians and educational institutions since its beginnings in 1993 when Dietrich started the business from his garage. It quickly emerged from there and soon became Australia's favourite String Instrument supplier.
