Acronis Backup & Recovery for vCloud provides self-service backup and recovery for enterprises and service providers using VMware vCloud Director. This makes it easier and safer to run critical applications in the cloud.

Sydney, 28 August 2013 – Acronis, a leading provider of physical, virtual and cloud backup solutions, today announced the release of Acronis Backup & Recovery® for vCloud®, enabling enterprises of various sizes and service providers to complement VMware® vCloud Director® with self-service backup and recovery. It allows tenants and administrators to eliminate downtime and protect their virtual machines in public, private and hybrid clouds. Using Acronis’ innovative technology, service providers can now build a complete infrastructure-as-a-service offering using vCloud.

With more than 50 advanced backup technologies released to date, Acronis is now enabling backup-as-a-service with Acronis Backup & Recovery for vCloud. While VMware vCloud Director allows tenants to control their VMs directly, Acronis’ new solution provides them with additional full self-service backup of their Virtual Machines (“VMs”).

Acronis Backup & Recovery for vCloud Features:

• Easy-to-use self-service web console for users to control backup and recovery of their VM’s;

• Integration with VMware vCloud Director simplifying backup and recovery of entire machines, including vCloud configuration and other metadata;

• Fast and reliable agentless backup technology for virtual machines behind Acronis® vmProtect™ and Acronis Backup & Recovery; and

• Seamless on-premise-to-cloud migration and disaster recovery to the cloud.

Andy Purvis, General Manager ANZ at Acronis, said: “Acronis knows backup, and if you want to deliver infrastructure-as-a-service, you need effective backup. Before this breakthrough self-service technology from Acronis, protecting vCloud VMs was difficult and time consuming. Now, Acronis has applied its expertise in backup and knowledge of service providers to build the only self-service backup solution designed specifically for VMware vCloud, making it easier and safer for enterprises and service providers to run critical applications in the cloud.”
