Thereitis for ecommerce on show at 5th Annual Online Retailer Conference & eCommerce Expo, Sydney

Technology pioneer Thereitis will demonstrate its world-first 3D Visual Search for eCommerce at the 5th Annual Online Retailer Conference & eCommerce Expo  (20-21 August, Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre, Stand 3022).

Thereitis renders an instant, interactive 3D experience of online product catalogues in a single screen.

Research into visual display conducted at Flinders University, South Australia, shows that people can find items up to 80% faster using 3D Visual Search than traditional search or 2D lists, making them more likely to buy on first visit.

Thereitis CEO Nigel Standish says Thereitis tackles the boredom of searching through product catalogues online.

“Many tools are used to attract shoppers to your site, but keeping them there long enough to make a purchase is still a significant challenge for online retailers,” Mr Standish says.

“Thereitis makes the experience more exciting and engaging – and simply makes it easier for customers to make buying decision within one screen.”

Mr Standish compares the experience to the real world of shopping.

“When people walk into a shop, they find, filter and compare items using visual clues like size, shape and colour.

“In the supermarket, we explore the aisles scanning shelves looking for the brands we recognise.  In a fashion store we browse items that suit our style, knowing what we like ‘when we see it’.”

Thereitis improves the online shopping experience by leveraging this innate ability of the human brain to spot items of interest that "catch our eye" in a group of objects.

“Online, it’s well known that shoppers tire of scrolling and clicking, and if they lose interest that tends to mean a lost sale,” Mr Standish said.

“Thereitis is more engaging and more practical than the regular scroll and refresh of a standard ecommerce site.  This is a true breakthrough in online retail and aligns with the theme of the conference, ‘breaking through new retail frontiers’.”

About thereitis technology
Thereitis is the result of 10 years of research at Flinders University. The patented process uses an algorithm that takes a list of items from a 2D search and presents them in a 3D space.

The solution runs on desktop and mobile web browsers using HTML4, HTML5, and Flash, as well as native iOS and Android apps.

Thereitis for retailers
Thereitis is available as either a fully hosted solution running in an iFrame or as a custom embedded version integrated into the client’s website. It requires next to no technical knowledge.

The look and feel of the cube is controlled using a simple Content Management System (CMS).

Data can be sourced from the client’s database or extracted from their website. Images can also be displayed with the background removed using the Thereitis "Product Strip" service or as is.

Shoppers can click on a tab to launch Thereitis 3D Visual Search, filter by parameters such as price, size and colour, and then click on an item to see more detail, ultimately clicking to make a purchase.

Thereitis 3D Visual Search is available for a monthly licence fee based on the number of products displayed and site traffic.
