Believe Foundation and their Thanks for Caring program are launching their Uggies for Carers Day and inviting all South Aussies to wear their uggies to work on Friday, 16th August 2013.

The aim of Believe Foundation's Uggies for Carers Day is to raise funds to continue to grant wishes to carers of individuals who suffer from either a mental illness or disability. The Thanks for Caring program has so far helped over 20 families - five of those young carers with the youngest being 10 years old, largely from money raised through fundraising events such as this.

“The program is an initiative of Believe Foundation to give Carers something they need or request, to show them they are not alone in their never ending commitment to our community,” said Believe Foundation co-founder Terry Smith.

“Carers wear down and wear out. The enormity of their contribution to our society can often go completely unrecognised which is why we commenced the Thanks for Caring program.”

Among the requests already granted were providing money for groceries, school fees, a television and a short holiday break. With 12% of the population unpaid carers there are a lot more requests to be granted. Anyone may nominate an individual or family they feel is deserving at http://www.believefoundation.org.au.

Uggies for Carers Day is about encouraging individuals to wear their uggies to work and support our Carers through a gold coin donation. You can help make a difference by having fun and raising money. To register your workplace, go to http://www.believefoundation.org.au, email [email protected] or phone 08 8372 2799.
