Marijke Greenway says “plein air painting is what I do best – ninety five percent of my work is painted on site – my favourite subject at present being trees”. It’s a perfect match next April Marijke will travel to Norfolk Island to capture the iconic Norfolk Island Pine.

Marijke says she finds “immense satisfaction in capturing the sense of “being there” of distilling the essence of nature and recording all the permutations of colour seen and felt”. Marijke invites painting enthusiasts to join her for an unforgettable en plein air painting trip to Norfolk Island.

Early studies for Marijke took place in South Africa, but it was in Australia with its very active art world that she became most prolific in her output and variety of subject matter, and equally at home with oils, watercolours and acrylics. Acknowledged as a popular watercolour and mixed media teacher, Marijke have tutored regular classes for 12 years.

Having accumulated an impressive list of awards and commendations for her work and been widely exhibited, both in group exhibitions and solo shows, Marijke has been published with major contributions to art magazines and is a member of several art societies, including the Royal Art Society and the Australian Society of Marine Artists.

Painters are encouraged to join Marijke for en plein air workshops on picturesque Norfolk Island. Participants are encouraged to bring along partners, family & friends who are most welcome to travel and enjoy Norfolk’s many activities and tours during lesson times and meet up with the artists for social functions later in the day.
