Friday, July 5th, 2013 - Kindy Dance Time

An exciting dance programme which encourages young children to explore dance and music is celebrating being named a finalist in the ‘Best National Pre-schooler Activity’ category of the 2013 What’s On 4 Junior Awards.

Kindy Dance Time (KDT) is a unique, age-specific programme for girls and boys aged 2-5 years. Classes involve dancing in groups, with a partner, and individually to encourage and support both social and emotional development in the important early years of a child’s life.

Lessons also include educational components such as shapes, numbers or colours for younger children, and cultural awareness, anatomy or the environment for the older age groups.

Lara Gandini, Director of Kindy Dance Time is ‘thrilled’ to have made it into the final three, amongst some ‘extremely tough competition’, including co-finalist Little Kickers - a children’s soccer programme which runs in 13 countries worldwide, including England, Canada and South Africa.

“The other two finalists are amazing organisations,” said Lara. “To be in the final three alongside such fantastic programmes is a great achievement in itself!” she added.

“While Kindy Dance Time has grown considerably in popularity; it’s always nice to be officially recognised and making the shortlist for the ‘Best National Pre-schooler Activity’ certainly acknowledges and celebrates the success of KDT,” she continued.

The syllabus for Kindy Dance Time has been developed using resources and experience from a number of leading tutors in dance and music, specialising in the early childhood years. And a key characteristic of the Kindy Dance Time system is the emphasis on parental involvement in all classes.

Kindy Dance Time is now regarded as Australia’s leading dance programme for toddlers and pre-schoolers, with almost 1500 children now attending classes in WA, Victoria and NSW each week. For more information about Kindy Dance Time, visit www.kindydancetime.com.au.
