Wednesday, June 19th, 2013 - Australian Web Industry Association
The 2013 Australian Web Awards will include a Political category and a Social Media category.

The Political category is open to web sites and online campaigns developed between July 2012 and the federal election, on September 14th. Eligible sites include those of political candidates, political parties, advocacy groups and political campaigns of all descriptions. Entrants can nominate Desktop, Social Media or Mobile implementations.

The Social Media category will be judged on campaign effectiveness - level of engagement, campaign structure, how well it was measured, and what results were achieved. Entries can be for single platform or cross-platform campaigns.

Increasingly, the web industry offers clients strategic direction as well as technical services. These awards acknowledge that shift. AWIA Chairman Bret Treasure said, "although it's more difficult to judge the effectiveness of a campaign than a web site, we want to acknowledge companies who are approaching social media in ways that deliver real benefits to their clients."

"For the first time projects will compete for state awards prior to the national finals", says Committee Chair Nick Crowther. "Black tie events will be held in most states and there will be many more winners."

The Australian Web Awards showcase outstanding work by Australian web designers and developers. Entries open June 24th and close August 16th (except for the Political Category).

Owners of the web sites or their web developers can enter. Acknowledged leaders in the web industry sit on the various judging panels and independently award points to nominated sites.
