Shamexpress and Sea Siren will be out to add another chapter to Australia’s sprinting success at Royal Ascot 2013 when bidding for victory at the world famous horse racing event in England.

The leading have flown to the other side of the world and will take on some of the fastest horses on the planet at Royal Ascot 2013. Shamexpress is due to run in the King’s Stand Stakes on Tuesday June 18 – the opening day of the five-day meeting – and Sea Siren going head-to-head with the best in the Diamond Jubilee, which is the star attraction on the final day on Saturday June 22.

Shamexpress will be out to enhance the exceptional record of Australian horses in the King's Stand Stakes by following in the footsteps of Choisir (2003), Takeover Target (2006), Miss Andretti (2007) and Scenic Blast (2009), who have all taken out the Group 1 race in the last 10 years.

Sea Siren will be attempting to repeat the performance of another star mare in the Diamond Jubilee as she bids to follow Black Caviar, who won the race 12 months ago on her only start outside of Australia, onto the roll of honour of the Group 1 contest. The list of former winners also includes the name of Choisir, who did the sprint double in 2003.

For three-time Group 1 winner Sea Siren, who will be ridden by leading jockey Jamie Spencer in the Diamond Jubilee, it will be her finale start for trainer John O’Shea before joining up with Coolmore’s handler Aidan O’Brien in Ireland.

Both are prominent is the top five of the betting, with the markets for both races headed by an overseas raider in South Africa’s Shea Shea. He could yet run in both races.

Shamexpress, winner of Australia’s Newmarket Handicap, is likely to stay in England to contest the Group 1 July Cup at Newmarket on July 13 before returning home for a spell in the paddocks. “Hopefully this colt can add another chapter to that by winning on the world stage,” O’Brien said. will have coverage of Shamexpress and Sea Siren’s attempt on victory as well as the lowdown on the entire Royal Ascot 2013 meeting.
