This year Norfolk Island celebrates a silver Scrabble® anniversary 12-19 October. For 25 years organisers have been tempting Australian and New Zealand fans to travel to their South Pacific island festival for challenging games and an array of prizes.

Scrabble® history dates back to the great depression, when architect Alfred Mosher Butts couldn’t find work he decided to create a board game that required the vocabulary skills of anagrams, crossword puzzles and also an element of chance. Scrabble® was born, and today this game is played far and wide including an annual competition on petite Norfolk Island.

The Travel Centre invites new and past participants to the 25th Norfolk Island Scrabble® Festival for a week of full and half-day game sessions with internationally renowned adjudicators. It’s Glennis Hale and Jeff Grant’s last year as adjudicators for the festival and as a result organisers are seeing long time Scrabblers come back for the extra special silver anniversary.

The event is being held from 12-19 October 2013 ex Brisbane and 14-21 October 2013 ex Sydney, with plenty of time to immerse yourself in the unrivalled beauty of Norfolk Island’s beaches, stroll or bike through our magnificent rainforests and or just enjoy a break away from it all with the sights of Norfolk Island.

The Norfolk Island Travel Centre has hot deals for travel priced from $1079 per person twin share ex Brisbane and $1119 per person twin share ex Sydney for a seven night stay. The prices includes return economy class airfare to Norfolk Island (seat + bag), airline taxes, meet & greet at the airport, 7 night’s twin share accommodation, 7 days car hire including surcharge (petrol extra), Half Day Tour, discount shopping card, complimentary mini- golf and complimentary ‘A Walk in the Wild’.

Scrabble Registration Kit of $299 per person is additional to the above travel package.
