Thursday, April 11th, 2013 - Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt

Bondi Beach - One of the world's great beaches, famous for its glistening ocean, pristine sands, reliable surf and seaside spirit, is now home to Sydney's first Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt store.

Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt is a self-serve, choose-your-own-toppings frozen dessert established in the US in 2010. Its first two international stores opened in Melbourne and Australia’s surfing capital, Torquay, last year. It is one of the fastest-growing frozen yogurt chains in the world with more than 230 outlets across the US.

The Bondi store at 7/164 Campbell Parade, directly across from the beach, is opening with a bang this weekend, with $1 from every cup sold being donated to the nearby Bondi Beach Public School.

And best of all, from 3-4pm on Saturday, frozen yogurt will be given away free!

Storeowner Yahya Kanj is inviting all of Bondi and surrounding neighbourhoods to drop by and say hello.

“We’ll have free face painting and plenty of giveaways to launch the new store,” Yahya said. “This will be a great day for Bondi.”

Unlike most other frozen yogurt shops, Orange Leaf customers grab a cup, choose their favourite yogurt and toppings, and weigh and pay by the gram.

“Self-serve is the ideal model for a bustling area like Bondi, where people want to have a great experience and demand faster service,” said Yahya. “They decide how much they put in a cup and on average spend between $4 and $6.”

The shop has more than 65 flavors and will have 10 unique flavours at any given time ranging from fresh fruit such as Blueberry, Coconut and Passion Fruit, to the more sweet and indulgent such as Cookies and Cream, White Chocolate and Cotton Candy. Add to that over 36 different toppings and sauces to choose from and the possibilities are endless.

Orange Leaf’s pro-franchisee culture encourages owners to become part of their communities and the Bondi store has chosen to support the primary school just along the road.

Bondi Beach Primary School was established in 1923. It is a dynamic community school in a unique, cosmopolitan environment. The beach is a focal point for many learning activities in Art, Science, Sport and for social activities. The school's vision is to provide a safe, supportive and educationally stimulating environment so students can achieve their personal best.

Orange Leaf offers a multitude of delicious, traditional and original flavours including no-sugar-added, gluten-free and lactose-free alternatives. Customised with a generous selection of do-it-yourself toppings, Orange Leaf provides an innocent indulgence, self-served in a stimulating atmosphere.
