Today the Environmental Defenders Office of Northern Queensland announced an intensive recruitment drive is underway to attract talented graduate placements and volunteers from James Cook University and other Universities and tertiary institutions throughout all Australian States and Territories.
The Principal Solicitor for the Environmental Defenders Office of Northern Queensland (EDO-NQ), which services over 1 million square kilometers of Australia, including 3 natural World Heritage Areas, is calling for work experience placement applications from those interested in environmental law, equal access to justice, and environmental protection.?
Mr Power said: “We are interested in hearing from outstanding law graduates from throughout Australia who require placement work experience in order to fulfill their work experience component of their Practical Legal Training Program. Graduates may come from any jurisdiction in Australia. In addition, we are seeking talented advanced students/graduates in the fields of Planning, GIS, public relations, and information systems.” The positions will require placements to be undertaken in Cairns, which is the base of EDO-NQ.
“A placement in Northern Queensland is attractive not only because there is so much important environmental protection work to be undertaken here, but successful applicants will be able to dive the Great Barrier Reef, dally in the Daintree and discover the Atherton Tablelands, to name just a few of the remarkable places within easy striking distance of Cairns”, he said.
People with the necessary skills, interested in both assisting with the protection of the environment and advancing their prospects of future employment should email their resume to Mr Power at firstname.lastname@example.org.
