Bloggers Challenged to Unlock the Secrets of Grapeseed Oil and Compete for the Chance to Attend BlogHer Food '13

BALTIMORE, MD -- (Marketwired)-- Thanks to recent scientific findings, the Mediterranean diet has boosted the popularity of olive oil. And as a leader in olive oil, Pompeian wants to share another treasure of the food world -- grapeseed oil. Pompeian, in partnership with Hungry Girl Lisa Lillien, is launching the "Time to Change Your Oil" campaign to educate Americans about the health and cooking benefits of grapeseed oil.

A chef secret for decades, grapeseed oil has similar health benefits to olive oil, but is even more versatile for cooking. Pompeian Grapeseed Oil is 100% imported from France and is rich in Vitamin E antioxidants and Omega 6. Its light taste enhances the flavors of food while cooking and its fluidity reduces excess oil from absorbing into meals. Additionally, grapeseed oil has a high smoke point, making it ideal for frying, sautéing and stir-frying.

Pompeian also offers the new OlivExtra® Premium Mediterranean Blend -- a healthy combination of grapeseed oil, extra virgin olive oil and canola oil containing an ideal ratio of Omega 3 to Omega 6 (1 to 5). This all-purpose oil represents key components of the Mediterranean diet and is perfect for everything from stir-frying to salads.

"Eating healthier doesn't have to be difficult. All it takes is a small change -- like simply swapping butter and vegetable oil for grapeseed oil -- to make a big difference," said David Bensadoun, CEO, Pompeian, Inc. "Pompeian is excited to spread the word about how easy it is to incorporate the benefits of these healthy oils into your daily life."

To prove how delicious cooking with grapeseed oil can be, Pompeian is launching the "Time to Change Your Oil" recipe contest, challenging bloggers to re-imagine recipes traditionally made with butter or vegetable oil, and instead use one of Pompeian's grapeseed oil products. From April 2-30, 2013, bloggers have a chance to win an all-expense paid trip to BlogHer Food '13 by creating and posting a recipe featuring Pompeian Grapeseed Oil or the new OlivExtra Premium Mediterranean Blend on their blog and sharing a link to their post via the Pompeian Facebook page application. Judged by Pompeian and Hungry Girl Lisa Lillien, the grand prize winner will travel to Austin, TX from June 7-8, 2013 and their winning recipe will be featured with Pompeian throughout the event.
