Professor Fiona Wood, Australian of the Year 2005 will join Business Chicks in Canberra on Wednesday 27 March for a breakfast at Hotel Realm.
Best known for leading a courageous team to save victims of the Bali bombings and revolutionising the treatment for burns victims through her invention of spray on skin cells, Australian of the Year 2005, Professor Fiona Wood, joins us in March.
Professor Wood’s driving force is the belief that any individual, regardless of their education or background, can make a significant difference. She is an exponent of the mantra anything is possible and that every one of us has a crucial role in ‘lifting the bar’ through the support and celebration of each other.
She’s gutsy, brave and the type of woman who if you tell her something’s unachievable she’ll not only rise to the challenge but also accomplish it ten times over! A mother of six, Professor Fiona Wood has spoken in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth for Business Chicks and she is nothing short of phenomenal. She’s one of our favourites and we can’t wait to share her with our community in the Nation’s Capital.
Business Chicks will also host a Professional Networking Night in Canberra in February. Whether you're a corporate woman, business owner, entrepreneur or launching yourself back into the workforce, it's your opportunity to gain top networking tips from an expert and put them into practise throughout the evening. The vibe is very much about like-minded women reaching out to one another, sharing contacts, knowledge and experiences in a relaxed environment.

Business Chicks has 27,000 members around Australia. We offer a sophisticated online member platform, publish a quarterly magazine named Latte and run the highest-attended events on the corporate women’s calendar, with up to 1700 guests at each event. We currently have a presence in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Canberra, Adelaide and Perth, with previous speakers including Ita Buttrose, Sir Richard Branson, Olivia Newton-John, Sir Bob Geldof and Diane von Furstenberg.
At Business Chicks we believe that great stuff happens when women come together to uplift and inspire each other. When we stop competing, and start lending a hand. When we give of ourselves and our expertise so that others can benefit from it. We imagine a world where women feel part of something bigger than themselves, and a world where we feel safe to give anything a go.
