Perth’s newest luxury hotel, The Terrace Hotel, at the top end of St Georges Terrace, will continue the opening celebrations on 24 November with a flurry of tweets, Facebook updates and Instagram images.
In what is believed to be a first for any hotel in Australia, The Terrace Hotel will hold a Social Media Sleepover, to be hash tagged #SocMedSleepover, which will bring together a cross section of social media influencers to celebrate the launch of this iconic city landmark that has now been re-born.
Marketing & Events Manager Meg Coffey said The Terrace Hotel was set to become a benchmark of accommodation, business and lifestyle entertainment.
“Set amongst modern buildings, the heritage-listed St George’s House has been rebuilt with immense care and attention to detail and is sure to please the seasoned business traveller, discerning tourist or sophisticated city patron,” she said.
“Built in 1892, the building has led many lives before its most recent transformation into a luxury hotel, bar and restaurant with private dining and function facilities. The hotel pays homage to its history, yet incorporates all the modern luxuries and indulgences imaginable including in-room iPads, Bang & Olufsen sound and television systems, Apple TV and Foxtel IQ fully integrated for the guests’ enjoyment,” Ms Coffey said. With only 15 rooms available, Ms Coffey said deciding which influencers to invite for the #SocMedSleepover was a tough decision.
“We wanted to create a group that is a cross section of all types, from a foodie, to a couple, a fashionista to a photographer – a good mix.”
“Joining forces with Perth Twitter legends @freocookster (John Cooke) and @tweetperth (Adam Barrell), the public was canvassed to help select the guests,” Ms Coffey said.
An experiment in social media, #SocMedSleepover will come together on Saturday 24 November and will be the first group to spend the night in the hotel. A series of events will take place throughout the evening, with guests thoroughly encouraged to utilise all social media channels to document their experience.
Forest Hill Wines will be served alongside a specially designed menu from Executive Chef Shannon Wilson.
“This is the first time a luxury hotel in Australia has used social media as part of its launch strategy. Social media is a core part of our vision, and we can’t wait to share The Terrace Hotel with everyone,” Ms Coffey said.
The public can track the opening night antics by following the hashtag #SocMedSleepover on Twitter, or following The Terrace Hotel on Facebook.
