Rockhampton Artist Coral Morris has officially launched her new website http://coralmorrisart.com/. For over 20 years, Coral Morris has lived in the Central Queensland region, living and breathing her passion of painting traditional Australian Landscapes. But this love affair has been around a lot longer than that!
“I grew up in the 50?s and 60?s in the small rural town of Springsure in the Central Highlands area of Queensland, Australia. I believe this experience sowed the seeds of my passion for painting, my love of the bush and this great land of Australia.” Coral says.
“My parents Hazel and Len Goodwin had the Newsagency business (known as the Paper Shop in those days) in Springsure for 25 years. I was a shop kid from a very young age and later worked with Dad for 10 years after I left school.”
“Prior to this, Dad was a Tank Sinker in the 40?s, and the family travelled with him camping from job to job. I’m sure these times were tough, yet the experiences and memories, pure gold.” She reveals.
Coral Morris has won numerous awards over the years and has been featured in various media. She was also the President of the Royal Queensland Art Society (Rockhampton Branch) for 16 years.
“As President of the Royal Queensland Art Society I was afforded the opportunity to develop my skills as an Artist and encourage the development of cultural activities within the local community.” States Coral
“My work is inspired by times spent with other artists and mentors whose paths have crossed with mine and my love for the bush, the beauty and diversity of the Australian Landscape.”
“As an Artist, I am passionate about use of colour and atmospheric light and putting my emotions on canvas as well as paint to tell the story. I attempt to portray the essence and spirit of the places I paint as well as descriptive form to share with others.”
“The Australian Gums are a feature of many of my works. I enjoy striving to capture the play of light and shadow among the leaf canopy, while portraying the strength and uniqueness of each individual tree.”
Coral is currently creating a body of work for a solo exhibition titled "The Hills Of Home" that will feature Springsure and Mount Zamia views and the beauty and splendour of Carnarvon Gorge in Central Queensland. The exhibition will be held in Springsure, Central Queensland, in November 2013.
