Friday, November 27th, 2009 - Myponga Bank
A new Farmers’ Market in the Fleurieu Peninsula will meet South Australians’ growing demand for fresh produce and diverse flavours when it launches in Myponga on Sunday December 6th 2009.

Esteemed coffee bar and gift shop, Myponga Bank, will expand its passion for quality produce and fresh ingredients beyond its own doors by setting up stalls with local farmers and producers.

“Through the Farmers Markets @ Myponga Bank, we hope to invite locals and visitors to experience the brilliance of seasonal fruit and vegetables, fresh, local and organic produce,” Myponga Bank Manager, Samuel Day, said.

“With the abundance of water and nurturing soils, Myponga is at the heart of fertile growing country, which means that much of the state’s best produce comes right from this district,” he said.

According to Sam, the enormous popularity of culinary television programs such as MasterChef and The Cook and the Chef, home-made quality cuisine from fresh ingredients and delightful flavours, is now a priority for Australians.

“The so-called obesity epidemic and the Global Financial Crisis have really seen a shift in attitude towards honest, familial, rustic food, and we are so pleased that we can help meet this demand for South Australians,” he said.

Stallholders will be as diverse as their produce, with 12-year-old twins, Noah and Isaac Beckmann launching their own stall called About Thyme Herbs, where they will sell seedling plants including a variety of herbs, chillies, lemongrass, mint, tomatoes, and of course, thyme.

In addition to herbs and seasonal fruit and veg, an assortment of wares will be available at the Farmers Markets @ Myponga Bank, including: fresh bread, local wine, cheese selections, olives and olive oil, freshly squeezed juices, sweets, pasta sauces and pizza bases, as well as seedlings and fresh flowers.
