An appealing new Australian influenced textile range with a fresh contemporary twist is set to be launched by Alice Orozco of Prêt-à-Portière at Grand Designs Live in Sydney on 5th October 2012.

Mackenzie Fabrics, inspired by the wonderful trees of the Australian bush, is the creation of photographer and artist David Mackenzie who says, “these fabrics with their beautiful natural colours, textures and designs, allow us to really bring the bush inside.”

The new textile range will feature drapes, sheers, soft furnishings and upholstery with an appealing variety of commercial and domestic applications.

“The textiles showcase the exquisiteness of Australia representing artistic excellence and I’m honoured to be launching the Mackenzie Fabrics collection at Grand Designs. I’m confident the designs will be a hit and we’ll see them in homes and commercial interiors here and around the globe”, says Prêt-à-Portière Founder Alice Orozco.

The premier collection consists of 4 drapery and upholstery fabrics, 4 sheers and wallpaper ranges. Mackenzie Fabrics is available for pre-orders to the hotel, interior design, architect trades and specifiers through Prêt-à-Portière www.portiere.com.au

Mackenzie Fabrics Founder, David Mackenzie

David has always been closely bonded to the bush, growing up on a cattle and sheep property in northern NSW. His early working life as a farm hand, wool presser and roustabout in shearing sheds was a forerunner to a long career in business which took him all over Australia and overseas.

Twelve years ago, he left the corporate world behind, embarking on a new adventure, which lead him to spend more and more time developing his life long hobby of photography. In recent years, he has held a number of successful photographic exhibitions as well as featuring as a finalist in a number of regional photographic competitions.

In his spare time, he loves nothing more than to grab his camera and tripod and head off into the bush to capture beautiful images of wild life and natural landscapes.
