Glen Rabie, CEO of global Business Intelligence (BI) software vendor, Yellowfin, has said that the vendors soon-to-be-held Location Intelligence (LI) Best Practices Webinar series would help organizations stop wasting their data.

Rabie said that Yellowfin’s Location Intelligence Best Practices Webinars, to be held throughout Monday 27 and Tuesday 28 August, would:

  • Analyse the major trends underpinning the rising importance of location-aware data analysis tools and location-based data
  • Demonstrate how geospatial mapping technologies can deliver deeper organizational insight by revealing important patterns and relationships between different data types
  • Explain how to utilize LI technology and communicate the information produced effectively


Research and advisory firm, IDC, has indicated that over 80% of organizational data has a spatial element. But according to TechTarget’s 2012 Revealing the ‘Where’ of Business Intelligence using Location Analytics report, only 11% of senior IT staff were even familiar with the term ‘Location Intelligence’.

“This research demonstrates that the majority of organizations aren’t able to utilize their data effectively,” said Rabie. “If you’re unable to analyse the data you collect and turn that information into knowledge, what’s the point?
