As a response to demand from the government, resource and corporate sectors, Pactel International expanded its Ku-Band coverage across Australia, PNG and East Timor on a new platform.

Deployed at the company’s Sydney facilities, the new Ku-Band Hub will support voice, video and data applications, enabling usage of more portable and cost-effective equipment. The services will run on SES’s NSS-6 satellite, providing uniform coverage across Australia, East Timor and PNG.

As a managed communications provider, Pactel International delivers turnkey solutions for installing and managing satellite networks. Using the new platform, Pactel International can now support a wide range of satellite mobility systems suitable for resource companies requiring frequent site relocation. The services will also benefit government, corporate entities and resellers working in the resource and enterprise markets.

“Ku-Band services are readily accessible due to lower equipment prices and convenience of transportation. Combined with the recently developed ROCK (Remote Office Communications Kit) solution, the new platform opens up opportunities for Pactel in the satellite mobility and resources markets”, said Andrew Taylor, CEO – Pactel International.

“We are honoured that Pactel has chosen the high-powered NSS-6 satellite to deploy this important Ku-band hub that is critical to extending connectivity across Australia, East Timor and PNG,” said Deepak Mathur, Senior Vice President Commercial, Asia-Pacific and the Middle East at SES. “SES worked closely with Pactel to understand their specific needs and provided a tailored solution that improved bandwidth efficiency and throughput of data networks cost-effectively."
