The deregulated utilities market just heated up a little more with the launch of Click2Connect, the online utilities and moving services offshoot of Domain.com.au's rental system provider Click2Rent.com.au.
For a dozen years or so, utilities aggregators such as Computershare owned Connect Now, Lumo Energy owned Direct Connect and smaller companies such as On The Move and Fastconnect, have incentivised property managers and real estate agents for referring connections clients to them. These incentives have ranged from modest gift vouchers to staff through to paying for sales conferences and six figure cheques to management for exclusivity of referrals. With Australia's home moves estimated to top 800,000 per year it's a huge market and highly contested by utilities companies in deregulated markets where movers can choose from a range of providers.
Since electricity companies like Tru Energy started offering cash incentives to customers to switch brands the game has heated up and now movers too can cash on utilities incentives in a range of services, not just power & gas. By selecting to have their electricity and gas switched on by AGL in time for their move per a no contract, no exit cost product, plus requesting quotes for a range of other relocation services such as Foxtel packages, internet and phone services, home removalists, cleaners, gardeners and more, home buyers and renters alike can now earn cash per connection while saving themselves time & hassles having to do it themselves.
Click2Rent CEO Susie Cole knows that this might upset some agents: "Until now movers thought that agents were doing them a favour by referring them to moving services companies, they didn't realise that it's a huge source of revenue for many of them. We're very clear with our offer, we share our referral fees with anyone who refers business to us, agents or movers themselves, so if agents fear that their clients might come directly to us, they can still work with us to earn the referral fee so that everyone's happy."
Click2Connect is not a comparison site and does not claim to offers the cheapest utilities or services, but offers convenience and service with cash rewards for successful connections.Susie Cole said, "For a mover it's not always about price, they want the comfort of knowing that the lights will be on when they arrive with their furniture, so reliability has driven our choice of energy supplier and AGL gives us that support and peace of mind."
With an enviable relationship with Domain.com.au, Australia's second largest real estate advertiser, movers will be clicking to connect in their thousands!
