South Australian company Securatrak is reaping the benefits of examining emerging technologies overseas and adapting them to the Australian market, with strong growth predicted for the young company in the next two years.

Securatrak, which was established in 2003, specialises in asset, vehicle and personnel tracking using GPS technology.

Managing Director, Mark Holmes, said when establishing Securatrak he looked overseas and identified the use of GPS technology as the “next big thing”.

“Based on the sustained growth of the company so far, we expect Securatrak to achieve
50 per cent growth in the next two years,” said Mr Holmes.

Securatrak’s significant level of growth has been recognised with its inclusion last night in the 2009 BRW Fast 100 companies, ranking 44th.

“We are in the fortunate position that our growth is being driven by our clients, particularly in the mining and resource sector. As they grow they need our services to grow with them,” said Mr Holmes.

“As a result of client demand, we are likely to increase the volumes at which we operate, as well as our geographic footprint with our operations expanding into South East Asia and New Zealand in the next two years.

Mr Holmes says the company’s success stems from the strength of the relationships it has with its suppliers as well as its clients.

“We put a strong emphasis on ensuring that our staff are highly skilled and trained to deal with any issues that may arise for our clients. We also work with our suppliers to constantly refine and develop better products for our clients,” he said.

“We can clearly illustrate that it costs more money not to use our systems than it does to use them because of the efficiencies and reductions in overheads that can be delivered.

“For example, our fleet management systems allow companies to monitor not only driver safety but fuel efficiency, speed and areas of wear and tear on a vehicle.

“We can also track assets, such as shipping containers, as they travel around the globe with units that can work for a number of years without needing any maintenance,” he said.

Securatrak assists more than 300 companies throughout Australia with GPS tracking, including Santos, Budget Rental (SA) and Northpoint Toyota.
