FANCY stepping up to the stage? Want to follow in the footsteps of Liza Minnelli?

Get your skates on and head to Floreat’s Hackett Hall from 10am, July 29, for a chance to be in the WA premiere of the musical The Rink.

Playlovers Theatre is looking for a variety of men and women aged 18 to 50, and two girls aged seven and up, to perform and sing in the production.

Written by the team behind Chicago and Cabaret, The Rink is set in a rundown rollerskating rink on the east coast of the US in the 1970s.

“It’s a story of forgiveness between a mother and daughter as they try to find a way of letting going of the past and move into the future,” director Alida Chaney said.

“This is a musical with many highs and lows and Liza Minnelli and Chita Rivera featured in the original cast.”

To audition, people need to prepare a song of their choice that best shows off their vocal skills and bring either sheet music or a backing track on CD or an iPod.

“They will be required to do a reading and perform a small dance routine, which the choreographer will teach them, so people should wear suitable and comfortable clothes and footwear,” Chaney said.

“All the men and the little girl need to rollerskate in the show and we’ll have an instructor to help with this in rehearsals.

“He’s a professional performer and was in the London cast of Starlight Express.”

For more details, call 0403 367 047 or email [email protected] The season runs from November 9 to December 1.

Hackett Hall is on Draper Street (off Underwood Avenue), Floreat.
