ADELAIDE, SOUTH AUSTRALIA, 11 November, 2009 – SolveIT Software Pty Ltd, a leading provider of enterprise software for supply & demand optimisation and predictive modelling, announced today that it has won federal grants totalling $588,000 from AusIndustry for the development and commercialisation of software that can optimise supply activities for multiple objectives, including environmental factors such as carbon emissions and water usage.

Working in collaboration with Pernod Ricard Pacific and the Australian Wine Research Institute (AWRI), SolveIT Software received $468,000 from AusIndustry under the Climate Ready program for Green Supply Chain Optimisation, and another $120,000 from AusIndustry under the COMET (Commercialising Emerging Technologies) program for Supply Chain Network Optimisation. SolveIT Software will match the funds to execute the 18-month, $1.1 million project.

"Climate Ready is about working in partnership with industry to support our best green ideas and in turn support high-wage, high-skill jobs," said Senator Kim Carr, Minister for Innovation, Industry, Science and Research. “Today’s announcement takes the total number of projects funded under the program to 105, worth more than $78 million in grant funding and supporting around 1,080 jobs.”

SolveIT Software's applications for supply chain optimisation are aimed at large production and logistics-based organisations that possess a multi-nodular network of production facilities, warehouses, distribution centres, and transportation modes. Through these AusIndustry-funded projects, SolveIT Software will add climate-change related capability to its applications through the development of a multi-objective trade-off analyser that will initially be deployed in the wine industry.

The wine industry has been chosen as a starting point for deployment because it is a flagship industry for Australia with significant economic impact in the rural regions through domestic and export wine sales, inbound tourist attraction, and exports of wine technology and education services globally. Australia is the world’s sixth largest producer and fourth largest exporter of wine. The wine industry is also a key vertical for SolveIT Software, with recent projects at both Pernod Ricard Pacific and Amcor Glass for the deployment of SolveIT Software's Advanced Planning & Scheduling (APS) system.
