One in three parents are losing it in long lines and abandoning their purchases to avoid waiting with kids, a survey has found.
Research by new online personal loan product, Umi, found parents are sick of queues, with more than one quarter (27 per cent) walking out of a shop when faced with a wait.
“With restless kids in tow, parents are voting with their feet and walking away from retailers and businesses that make them wait – opening up a new market for an online personal loan products such as Umi,” said Umi director Kartik Natarajan.
The five most irritating queues for parents were:
1. Checkout/cashier (40 per cent)
2. Airports (25 per cent)
3. Petrol stations (17 per cent)
4. Banks or ATM (13 per cent)
5. Coffee shops (5 per cent)
“The survey shows that parents are sick of wasting time in lines and are moving online for day-to-day transactions, so it makes sense for Umi to offer convenient online personal loans that only take 15 minutes to apply for and just 60 seconds to get a decision on,” Mr Natarajan added.
“There is a huge segment of the market demanding online finance – it is the latest frontier in the industry. Not only does Umi get rid of the queues that parents hate, but it is also underpinned by a strict lending process and robust approvals. With the easy online application and a competitive fixed rate, Umi is ideal for online savvy parents who need to borrow funds to buy a new car, book a holiday or make some home improvements.”
Despite declaring their frustration with waiting in line, almost three-quarters (74 per cent) of Aussie parents described themselves as a patient bunch, with only two per cent admitting to having pushed in to a queue.
Their top tips for surviving queues and outings with kids were no surprise, with advice including being prepared and having plenty of food, drinks and toys to keep kids occupied.
Unsurprisingly, the survey also found that nine out of ten (92 per cent) parents have moved online to tackle their daily essentials, including booking appointments, paying bills and managing their finances, saying it saves them time, money and hassle.
