SYDNEY—Just two months after opening its Sydney Studio, Australia's first virtual reality training facility, Athlete Lab is proud to announce its sponsorship of former World No. 1-ranked women's professional triathlete Lisa Marangon.
Marangon, 32, is fresh off a U.S. Tour which included a win at the Boulder 5430 Sprint Triathlon in Colorado, and three Top 10 finishes including a fifth place finish at 5150 New Orleans over the weekend.
Marangon, who missed four months due to injury following her Canberra 70.3 victory in December, has returned to form after taking first place at the Dextro Energy Olympic Triathlon Sydney in April and is currently working her way back up the rankings en route to the Hy-Vee US Championship Elite Cup and Ironman 70.3 World Championship, both in September.
Currently, Marangon sits at No. 9 in the IM 70.3 world rankings and 14th in the IM 5150 Series.
"Last year took a toll on me," said Marangon. "I raced 24 times in 52 weeks, so although my delayed start to the 2012 season was not planned due to injury, I believe it has been a good opportunity to fully recover and I am so excited to be on board with Athlete Lab. The facility is literally state of the art, and their coaches are experts at what they do. This will no doubt give me the edge I need when it counts the most - race day."
Marangon will continue preparations for the world championships in September, but will compete next in the NSW Women's Individual Time Trial on July 1 in Calga. She currently holds the course records for both the 43km (1:11.41) and 25km (37:53) distances.
"It's great to be able to welcome Lisa into the Athlete Lab High Performance program," said Athlete Lab head coach, Tristan Ius. "I look forward to the opportunity to coach such an accomplished and dedicated athlete. I expect to see Lisa atop the podium at some major events over the next 12 months."
