Hampton, Australia. June 15, 2012

Jeff Dusting, the skipper who survived the near fatal sinking of his yacht ‘Inception’ in the Melbourne 2 Port Fairy yacht has launched an online marine store, http://www.adventuresafety.com.au which features leading safety and recreational equipment for Air, Land and Sea safety.

Adventure Safety now includes an elite range of specially selected equipment designated by Jeff as his selection for Safety at Sea.

An experienced Aviator, Yachtsman and Explorer with advanced degree qualifications in aeronautical engineering and flight test Jeff Dusting is well placed to review and recommend adventure safety equipment but as he says it the real world application that counts.

“At midnight on Good Friday my 50’ Beneteau yacht, 'Inception' sank within 15 minutes when she foundered in Bass Strait during an intense and un-forecast gale” Jeff said.

“At the time there were winds up to 70knots and steep waves of 16 -20 metres. The conditions had dislodged our life raft earlier and when Inception sank our crew of five were forced into the waters of Bass Strait.

Our expected survival time was measured in minutes, in these conditions your survival is very dependent on the clothes and equipment you have selected.”

As he and his crew of five men were miraculously rescued after surviving more than two hours in extreme conditions Jeff gave thanks to the heroism of fellow competitor Grant Dunoon and the crew of the yacht Try Booking who had risked their own lives to effect the rescue.

Then Jeff turned his attention to Adventure Safety knowing that his efforts there could save the lives of others.

“At Adventure Safety we work hard to provide the very best equipment at the very best value because I know first hand that price can be a barrier to purchasing quality” said Jeff. Adventure Safety is not just a business to me, it’s a labor of love.

I am delighted to see that our survival has encouraged others to consider their own safety equipment in a new light. It’s not just ticking the box anymore. One day, in unforeseen circumstances your life may hang in the balance, dependent entirely on the shopping choices you made months before. “
