OCEANSIDE, CA--(Marketwire) - As Pharmaceutical and Biotech companies struggle to maintain their facilities in audit-ready conditions to comply with cGMP guidelines, one company has introduced a safe, environmentally friendly and reliable means of cleaning corrosion, rouging and residues that affect clean rooms and stainless steel processing equipment. Foamtec International's WCC division provides The Sahara Corrosion Cleaning System which controls corrosion without the use of hazardous chemicals that can cause safety, environmental and product contamination risks.

FDA regulated Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology manufacturing facilities currently use hazardous chemicals to address corrosion and residues caused by the daily application of disinfectants. Due to the costs of replacing stainless steel and the safety risks associated with passivation chemicals, remediation and replacement is carried out infrequently which results in prolonged facility appearance deficits. The Sahara System reduces these risks by replacing passivation chemistry with clean room grade scrubbing sponges and wipers. Instead of using an acid-based solution, The Sahara Corrosion Cleaning System requires the use of DI or USP-grade water and 70% isopropyl or ethyl alcohol, which can be used safely on a weekly basis. This results in facilities consistently being in audit-ready condition, and supports company ISO 14001 & OHSAS 18001 initiatives.

"The Sahara Corrosion Cleaning system is the first solution of its kind," stated Clay Foutch, VP of Sales, Life Sciences. "We listened to our Pharmaceutical customers to provide a safe way to remove corrosion and residues and created a system that keeps unsightly stains from returning. I'm excited to be involved with a product that allows facilities technicians to maintain stainless steel equipment in like-new conditions with only water and 70% Alcohol."

Said Fred Borst of Janssen Pharmaceutical, "Foamtec's Sahara Corrosion Cleaning System enables stainless steel product contact surfaces to be returned to production in a highly polished and clean condition. This system allows Janssen to more efficiently meet our high quality standards." Fred Pisacane, President of Foamtec's WCC division, stated that "The Sahara Corrosion Cleaning System brings to the Pharmaceutical and Medical Device Industries all the cleaning technology that has made us the leading provider of cleaning tools used by the Semiconductor industry to maintain sub class 1 High Vacuum Chambers. I'm gratified that the feedback from the early adopters has been so positive."
