Hockey South Australia announces the appointment of Andrew Ellis and John Haynes to its Board. Two new board appointments will add value and depth to the organisation’s capabilities as it continues on its path to develop hockey and elevate the sport.
In announcing the new appointments, Hockey SA Chairman, Helen Stone said she looked forward to welcoming fresh new expertise and passion to the board, at this crucial time of reinvention for the sport in South Australia.
Ms Stone says she is excited by the broad range of skills and varying perspectives each person brings, collectively deepening the organisation’s expertise.
“John Haynes brings with him unending passion and 35 years of experience as a state player, premier league coach and administrator of hockey,” explains Ms Stone.
Andrew Ellis, Executive Director of a global engineering, construction and services company adds breadth to the organisation’s business administration capabilities. “Mr Ellis’ key skills lie in strategic planning as well as project management and sales and marketing. His corporate insight and experience both here and overseas will be put to good use at Hockey SA.”
The two new appointments come at a crucial time for Hockey SA as it begins a marketing strategy conceived to complement the organisation’s strategic plan of strong growth objectives in 2012/13.
“Currently there are over 7000 active participants in Hockey in South Australia and we plan to grow this by ten per cent over the next 12 months,” says Ms Stone. That comprehensive program, Hookin2Hockey will result in over 5000 primary students taught the sport of Hockey at their local school, including regional areas.
Founded in Adelaide in 1903, hockey is an established sport in South Australia, with twenty two metropolitan clubs and a strong presence regionally with thirteen Country Regional Associations clubs throughout the State.
