Thursday, April 19th, 2012 - Dr Janah James
Chiropractor and healthy eating advocate Dr Janah James shares her remarkable story

Real woman, real changes: Dr Janah James, 29, knows how it feels to be obese - she has struggled with yo-yo weight gains and losses, and associated illnesses, from the age of 12. Two years ago, Janah embarked on a life-changing set of new behaviours that saw her shed 30 kilos of weight. One of her biggest secrets? She's eating plain old meat and three veg, also known as the 'Caveman' or 'Paleo' Diet, which is devoid of processed carbs.

Dr Janah James will be joining Dr Brett Hill – chiropractor, wellness expert and author of How to Eat An Elephant – at the Burnside Community Centre on May 20 to stage an inspirational talk and share her story with the public. Dr Janah and Dr Brett share similar dynamic wellness messages and will:

- Teach you why Australia now has more overweight people than America
- Explode the myths around weight loss that are keeping you fat
- Show you how to lose weight whilst never feeling hungry
- Give you simple strategies to lose real weight for life!

Dr Janah James and Dr Brett are available for media interviews and have a wealth of knowledge to share on weight loss, chiropractic and wellbeing. For more information, images or interviews, contact [email protected]

Dr Janah James

Dr Janah James is a chiropractor, wellness advocate and belief changer. She has been practicing since 2006 in both Sydney and a Gonstead Technique clinic in Marion, South Australia before joining the team at Greenhill Family Chiropractic. Dr Janah is specifically trained in Gonstead manual adjusting, also incorporating drop-piece, activator, diversified and SOT (sacral-occipital technique).

In late high school, the simple act of visiting a chiropractor and experiencing the almost immediate resolution of significant pain in her hips, which she had suffered from for over 18 months under various other forms of care, saw Dr Janah change her career plans from veterinarian to chiropractor. With regular adjustments and a healthier diet, other changes occurred as well, such as resolution of the cystitis that had been troubling her for almost ten years.

Whilst in practice, Dr Janah began to see a return of some of the symptoms and excessive weight gain that had plagued her as a youngster. Chiropractic care was keeping most of them under control, however, some just wouldn’t respond, and others returned. Dr Janah realised that whilst chiropractic had helped her enormously she would need to address what she did with her lifestyle between visits if she wanted to get the results, and the life, she desired.

Unlike previous attempts, each step resolved more health problems, and the weight changes became more rapid. With the increased energy she was experiencing, she spontaneously began running to the surprise of family members. As she explains it, 'It wasn't that I was getting fat because of my lack of exercise – I wasn't exercising because I was fat and had no energy' – a small but important difference!

Through her recent dramatic changes, it has become abundantly clear to Dr Janah how important it is to combine regular chiropractic with the right health advice ('not food pyramid rubbish!') – and that getting healthy is really not as hard as it’s made out to be. The desire has been fuelled in Dr Janah to be focused on optimum health, not on variations of pain. Though her education taught her that optimum health is the goal, it wasn’t until she was living it herself that she was transformed and inspired. Dr Janah looks forward to sharing this inspiration to help YOU be the best YOU that you can be!

Dr James is a Doctor of Chiropractic and holds a Bachelor of Chiropractic Science and Masters of Chiropractic (Macquarie University, NSW) and is a member of the CAA (Chiropractors Association of Australia).
