EVEN know What You Wanna Do on Record Store Day
One of Australia’s much-loved and critically acclaimed rock acts, EVEN, is planning to make Record Store Day 2012 one to remember.
EVEN is 'living the dream' for Record Store Day 2012, with a super combination of the band's two great loves – VINYL RECORDS and PLAYING LIVE.
EVEN is releasing the first single 'What You Wanna Do', from its sixth studio album, 'In Another Time', on LIMITED EDITION 7” vinyl, just in time for Record Store Day.
EVEN will be unleashing 'What You Wanna Do' in all its riff-rocking glory at the Record Store Day celebrations at Record Paradise in St Kilda. The celebrations kick-off at 11am on Saturday 21 April at Record Paradise, 100 Chapel Street, St Kilda. EVEN headline the show from 6PM, and the day will feature other great local artists Money For Rope, The Bowers and Rosie Haden.
'What You Wanna Do' is one of the more rocking, upbeat songs on EVEN's new album 'In Another Time', produced by Ashley Naylor, the band's singer, songwriter and guitarist.
“2012 marks 18 years for EVEN, so it's been great to be able to release the band's sixth studio album and sixth vinyl single in the same year”, says Naylor.
Naylor adds “Releasing 'What You Wanna Do' on 7” Vinyl also provides the opportunity to add a real B-side, so we've included one of our live favourites and a previously unreleased track, Beverly Drive”.
“This release is a WIN – WIN – WIN” says EVEN's bass player and Melbourne music stalwart, Wally Kempton, “because we get to add another vinyl record to our collections, plus we get to play live, and our drummer Matt gets a chance to produce some decent-sized artwork”.
El Reno Music releases EVEN's 'What You Wanna Do' on 7” LIMITED EDITION Vinyl on Saturday 21 April 2012.
EVEN plays LIVE at Record Paradise, 100 Chapel St, St Kilda at 6PM on Saturday 21 April.
EVEN's 7” Vinyl Single will be available in better independent record stores.
If you can't make it to your local independent record store on Record Store Day, a limited number of copies will be available via EVEN's website at www.even.com.au
EVEN is an Australian indie rock three-piece fronted by singer/songwriter/guitarist Ashley Naylor, with Matthew Cotter on drums and Wally Kempton (also known as Wally Meanie) on bass and backing vocals. EVEN formed in Melbourne in 1994 and has just released its sixth studio album, In Another Time.
A musical nun gave Ashley his first guitar lessons at nine. Little did she know that he would become one of Australia’s most in-demand guitarists, acclaimed songwriters and musical directors.
Naylor is founder and frontman for EVEN, plays in the SBS RocKwiz ‘live’ orchestra, as well as lead guitar in Paul Kelly’s band. In 2010, he received an ARIA Award for his work as Musical Director for Triple J’s Tribute to Paul Kelly ‘Before Too Long’.
In 2011, Naylor appeared alongside Claire Bowditch in the musical 'EVA - Tales from the Life of Eva Cassidy'.
Ashley has just released his second solo album, Ashley Naylor's High Horse, on El Reno Music.
