Grooming staff to take more senior positions in the project forwarding industry, particularly as a result of looming retirements of key personnel, was a key element in developing the Certificate of Achievement in Project Cargo Management short course.

Course trainer Kevin Stephens believes that historically the project forwarding industry was slow to act to ensure adequate succession planning was in place.

Mr Stephens, with more than 40 years international industry experience, said the project cargo industry had an aging senior management workforce and up and coming talent deserved the opportunity to acquire the skills to confidently fill these roles.

“Successful project forwarding requires a high level understanding of what can go wrong and the skills to counter these challenges,” Mr Stephens said.

“Supporting specialized training will ensure that project cargo businesses will have a smooth transition in to key roles that determine the future success of the company.”

“Employers will find it increasingly difficult to secure adequately skilled staff to fill senior roles if they do not plan ahead.”

Mr Stephens said the ISO accredited Certificate of Achievement in Project Cargo Management had been developed to fill this need.

The next course will be held from 21-22 May in conjunction with Breakbulk Europe The Antwerp Expo.

Investment in the two-day training is Euro €1,500 per person; Euro €1,350 for 2 – 3 persons; Euro €1,200 for 4 or more persons.

Early Bird registrations will receive a one-day pass to the Breakbulk Europe 2012 Conference & Exhibition on Wednesday 23 May 2012.
