A new Outback tour company offering intimate travel experiences in five-star style has been launched.
Luxury Outback Tours, owned by Sydney-based Australian Wild Escapes, will focus on luxury 4WD experiences in the remote and rugged Kimberley, Cape York, the stunning Flinders Ranges and Lake Eyre, the lowest point in Australia at 15m below sea level.
It will also feature iconic Outback pubs such as the multi-award winning Prairie Hotel at Parachilna in South Australia’s Flinders Ranges and the famous Birdsville Hotel in Queensland.
Australian Wild Escapes has been operating luxury 4WD and small group Eco tours for the past 25 years and has won several NSW and national awards for Excellence in Tourism.
Founded by outdoor enthusiast Bob Charlesworth, the company is now owned and operated by his son, Grant.
Grant says Luxury Outback Tours will offer a premium range of touring through the Luxury Outback Tours brand.
“Luxury Outback Tours is all about providing the ultimate in genuine outback travel experiences,” he says.
“A specialist crew travels ahead of the group to set-up our premium campsites while our guests travel in first-class luxury in an air-conditioned 4WD vehicle built to take a maximum of nine people off the beaten track to some of Australia’s most beautiful areas.
“It features airline-style recliner leather seats with double seat spacing, velour linings and cherry-wood trims. The vehicle is equipped with the latest state-of-the-art communication audio visual and safety equipment as well as an on-board shower and toilet, energy management and water purification systems.
“Some tour itineraries also incorporate the best available hotel and resort accommodation for the ultimate treatment.”
Grant says tours have flexible itineraries that allow people to stop and take photographs and soak up the magnificent scenery.
“On most days travel time is limited to four or five hours with the remainder of the day spent exploring with our expert guides discovering the delights of a new town or enjoying the peace and tranquillity of a remote bush location.”
Grants says most tours have a specialist crew of three that travel ahead of the tour group to look after guests’ every need such as setting up camp when they venture into remote locations, cooking, cleaning and pack up.
“When our guests arrive at a designated campsite their tent will be up and bedding arranged,” he says.
“All our guests have to do is relax and enjoy their once in a lifetime experience. They can settle back with a well-chilled beverage and canapés.
“Luxury Outback Tours is there to ensure guests have a truly memorable holiday.”
Grant says the level of luxury provided meant trips could be described as “adventure with a soft landing.”
Highlights of the Cape York trip include a flight from Cairns to Horn Island then a ferry trip to Thursday Island. Guests can also take a stroll through the magnificent Daintree Rainforest and visit the amazing Quinkan Aboriginal rock art site.
The Kimberley highlights will include the famous Gibb River Road and its amazing gorges, while the Flinders Ranges trip features a choice of walks in Wilpena Pound to view its mighty ramparts, a Bush tucker walk at Iga Warta in the Northern Flinders and the chance to view rare yellow-footed rock wallabies at play in Brachina Gorge.
