ARE you a budding singer? Give your shower walls a break and try out for Cockburn Idol – you could win $1000 for giving your vocal cords a work out.

The City of Cockburn is holding its first Cockburn Idol this summer. If you think you have what it takes, all you have to do is register and perform at one of the Summer of Fun community concerts.

If you’re lucky enough to make it to the final you will perform in front of 10,000 people at the Regional Community Concert at Manning Park on March 6, 2010. Prizes include $1000 cash for the winner in each category, $500 for the runner-up and an iPod for the third place-getters.

The competition is open from ages 5 to 35. Auditions will be at the Cockburn Youth Centre in Success from November 23 to 27. Heats will take place on January 16, January 30 and February 13, with the final taking place on March 6.

Register online at www.summeroffun.com.au by November 20. Or for more information contact the City's Events Department on 9411 3535 or 9411 3650.

Conditions apply and spaces are limited. City of Cockburn residents will receive the first opportunity to perform with additional performance spots going to residents outside the Cockburn area.
