$3.5 million chapter wins six coveted awards.

Sydney’s top small business networkers were named and honoured at a gala awards ceremony at the Grace Hotel in Sydney on Wednesday, February 8. Six of the honours went to members of the multi-million dollar group BNI Prophets.

The star performers received their awards before an audience of more than 300 business and media representatives at an event organised by Business Networking International (BNI) Sydney CBD South.

Paul James, managing director of disaster recovery firm Hosted Continuity and BNI Prophets’ foundation vice president, was singled out as the region’s top performer when he was named BNI Member of the Year 2011. Mr James was also recognised as The Highest Referrer of Business in the region.

BNI Prophets President Mary Oliveri said both awards were an outstanding achievement.

“Paul is an incredible asset to our chapter and this is wonderful acknowledgement of his contribution,’’ Ms Oliveri said.

“It was such a proud moment when the BNI Member of the Year 2011 was announced and it was one of our own. I couldn’t have been more delighted,” she said.

In other awards for BNI Prophets, finance broker Peter Welsh from Australia Wide Lending gained kudos for his commitment to the networking ethos and outstanding performance to the chapter. For this Mr Welsh received two awards: Most Valuable Player of 2011 and Best Growth Member of 2011.

Kwik Kopy Auburn franchisee Sebastiaan De Jonge was awarded for his commitment to developing the prosperity of the group. Mr De Jonge received a Best Growth Member 2011 award in recognition of this work.

Carol Brett, director of Spinnaker Media, received the Gold Networker 2011 award in recognition of her interaction with members of the group.

Mary Oliveri, Paul James, Sebastiaan De Jonge, Peter Welsh and Carol Brett are available for comment.
