The winner of the Yum In My Tum Festival Junior Chef competition has had his winning recipe printed in the 'Buy West Eat Best Book' specially produced for the Perth Royal Show.
Nicholas Callaghan, 16, won the competition in November 2008 with his wonderful dish of Mushroom Risotto.
"I can’t believe that my recipe has been include in the book," says Nick. "Winning the title in 2008 was great as I have a great love of cooking but to see my recipe in print which will be distributed at the Royal Show is just amazing! I hope it encourages kids to get cooking and to enter the YIMT Junior Chef competition this year!"
Yum In My Tum creator Johanna Garnett says, "I am so pleased that Nick has had this opportunity to see his winning recipe in print and we hope it will encourage all children here in Perth to enter the competition this year, especially as we welcome sponsor LG who will be providing a full demonstration kitchen for our festival in November 2009."
Yum In My Tum is believed to be the only food festival dedicated to children in Australia. The festival educates children and parents on growing, cooking and tasting! The first festival was held in Perth in 2008 and attracted 6,500 people. The festival will be taking place once again on Nov 29th from 10am at Whiteman Park in Perth. Plans are underway to expand the festival into Sydney in 2010.
A YIMT Magazine has been produced to help raise money for Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Foundation, and contains contributions from Tobie Puttock, Maggie Beer, Stephanie Alexander and Tana Ramsay.

Yum In My Tum
Yum In My Tum is the only food festival in Australia totally dedicated to children. JVG Events created Yum In My Tum in 2007. The festival is dedicated to providing children with an interactive cooking experience. The 2008 festival attracted 6,500 people.
This year the festival welcomes LG as a sponsor of Junior Chef Competition alongside our continued supporters, Buy West Eat Best and Whiteman Park.
Nick won the Junior Chef competition in 2008. He loves cooking for his family and his favourite chef is Gordon Ramsay.
The festival was created by JVG Events owner, Johanna Garnett. A mother of one and former teacher, Jo grow up hating veggies because of pressure from family. She created the festival to provide a stress free environment so that children can experience new foods and educate themselves whilst having fun!
Jo has since been asked to conduct numerous interviews discussing these areas. Further information on Jo can be found at www.jvgevents.com
