“Charlie & Boots” the road comedy, which stars Hogan and Shane Jacobson (Kenny), collected $804,002 from 173 cinemas around the country on the Father's Day weekend.

Directed by Dean Murphy, Charlie & Boots tells the story of Charlie McFarland (Hogan), a Victorian farmer in his late 60s who has suffered a devastating loss, and his estranged son "Boots" (Jacobson). In an attempt to cheer up his grieving father, Boots takes him on a long-promised fishing trip - 3,000 kilometres away at Cape York behind the wheel of an old Kingswood.

Better known for his warm and charismatic portrayal of the “fairdinkum Aussie bloke”, Kenny, Shane Jacobson won the 2006 AFI Award for Best Lead Actor, the 2006 Film Critics Circle of Australia Award for Best Actor in a Lead Role, the 2007 Film Ink Magazine Awards for Best New Comer and won 2007 Australian Star of the Year Award at the Australian International Movie Convention. “Kenny” was the highest grossing Australian film of 2006.

Shane Jacobson began his career on the stage at the tender age of 10 with amateur theatre, performing in Australia and overseas. At age 18 Shane began his comedy career with regular theatre restaurant, musical theatre, stand-up and MC gigs. It wasn’t long until the corporate world caught onto his talent for characterization and a quick quip, hiring him to play to huge corporate functions impersonating business icons and luminaries.

His sharply honed performance and character skills were noticed by Melbourne’s Gold FM radio station, who in 1999 gave him a regular spot. Shane’s focus eventually moved towards the camera and he began acting in prominent Music Videos, Short Films and TV Commercials whilst continuing to perform audience Warm-Ups for all the major TV networks.

Shane and his brother/director Clayton Jacobson shared the 2006 IF Awards for both Best Feature Film and Best Script and the 2006 Film Critics Circle of Australia Award for Best Original Screenplay. In 2007 Shane acted in the feature film NEWCASTLE, directed by Dan Castle and CACTUS, directed by Jasmine Yuen-Carrucan. In 2008 Shane completed a 5 month season of Guys ‘N’ Dolls at the Princess Theatre as “Nicely Nicely”. For his role he won a Helpmann Award – Best Male Actor in a Supporting Role. Shane will reprise the role of “Nicely Nicely” in Sydney at the Capitol Theatre from March 2009 along side Kath and Kim’s Magda Szubanski, Sea Patrol’s Lisa McCune and Ian Stenlake, Mother and Son’s Garry McDonald and singing star Marina Prior.

Shane Jacobson proves to show us he is the genuine, lovable Aussie bloke we can all relate to as he always seems to touch a chord with his honesty and natural approach. Shane brings these qualities and talents to the corporate arena where he is highly sought after for appearances and comedic MC work.
