ADELAIDE, SOUTH AUSTRALIA, 10 January 2012 – SolveIT Software Pty Ltd, a leading provider of enterprise software solutions for supply & demand optimisation and predictive modelling, announced today that it has expanded its Optimisation Science Team in Australia with the addition of Dr. Antony Lorio, Dr. James Whitacre, and Dr. Luigi Barone.

Dr. Antony W. Lorio previously worked as a research fellow at the University of New South Wales, where he researched a variety of domains including decision making and planning horizons, air-traffic management, networked complex systems and evolutionary computation. He has extensive experience as a software developer and holds a Master’s Degree in Information Technology and a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science. Prior to joining SolveIT Software, Antony worked in the area of Software Verification and Validation as a senior consultant at K. J. Ross and Associates.

Prior to joining SolveIT Software, Dr. James Whitacre was a post-doc at the University of New South Wales in the Artificial Life and Adaptive Robotics lab and a post-doc for two years at the University of Birmingham (UK) in the Computational Intelligence lab. James’ research areas included optimization of networked complex systems (e.g. interdependent scheduling, routing, and planning problems) using evolutionary algorithms, as well as the origins of robustness and flexibility in technological and sociotechnical systems. James holds a Bachelors Degree from Princeton University and a Ph.D. from University of New South Wales.

Dr. Luigi Barone is an expert in the field of computational intelligence. With over 15 years research experience into both the theoretical underpinnings and practical applications of such approaches, he possesses a wide knowledge base of advanced techniques for solving complex computational problems. He has published close to 50 scientific articles on the subject, won three competitive research grants, and received funding for academic collaborations on several industry projects. He currently serves on three research steering committees and is an associate editor for an IEEE journal. Luigi received a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from the University of Western Australia. He is also the recipient of a university teaching award, a distinguished service award with the ACM-ICPC programming competition, and a university prize for his undergraduate studies.
