Hong Kong International Building and Decoration Materials & Hardware Fair is the prime platform for mainland and overseas exhibitors to explore business opportunities.

Statistics show that the total export value of Hong Kong’s building materials and hardware products have been on the rise for the past three years. Year on year, the Chinese mainland remains the top market, buying more than half of Hong Kong’s total exports.

Hong Kong International Building and Decoration Materials & Hardware Fair has received plaudits from international exhibitors and buyers in past years. The international profile of both exhibitors and buyers, together with the growth in visiting numbers from year to year, enhances the fair’s scale as well as its internationality. In 2008, exhibitor numbers hit a record high of 291, up 20% over 2007; it also attracted more than 8,800 buyers from 106 countries and regions, an increase of 13% over 2007.

The 4th edition of the fair will run from 28 to 31 October at AsiaWorld-Expo. The extensive office networks and expertise of co-organisers, Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and CIEC Exhibition Company (HK) Limited, have built this fair into an important gateway to new and burgeoning markets.

The Chinese mainland, dubbed the ‘Factory of the World’, manufactures products of good quality and low price for export. This year, with a large pool of Chinese mainland exhibitors, Hong Kong International Building and Decoration Materials & Hardware Fair is an important marketplace for overseas buyers, presenting a wide range of building materials and hardware products which are competitively priced and high in quality. Chinese mainland exhibitors can make excellent use of this fair to expose their signature products to global markets in order to expand their businesses.

Past exhibitors from the Chinese mainland have commented that this fair helped them to go international and explore business expansion overseas. They also welcomed the fair results and indicated their continued participation in the years to come.

Overseas exhibitors also find this fair an effective channel to step into the Chinese mainland. The world's largest market, the Chinese mainland consumes more than half of the total exports of building materials & hardware from suppliers around the world.

In 2008, export value to the Chinese mainland increased by 3% to US$7.6 billion.

A new addition to the Hong Kong International Building and Decoration Materials & Hardware Fair this year is the ‘Furniture Zone’, featuring various categories of furniture.

As a truly specialised yet comprehensive trading platform for building materials and hardware products, this is a crucial event for exhibitors and buyers. The fair not only gives exhibitors a valuable chance to launch and promote their products to an extensive pool of international buyers, it also enhances buyers’ sourcing efforts for any infrastructure/ construction projects.

Ms Bonnie Shek Director of HKTDC- Australia and NZ Office mentions “For any companies interested to join the Fair to visit for the first time, they are able to enjoy our Hotel Sponsorship Packages of up to HKD1,800”

Eco Expo Asia and HKTDC Hong Kong International Lighting Fair (Autumn Edition) will run concurrently, giving buyers a golden chance to source related products for any construction and repair/renovation works.
