The Highly Anticipated App Provides the Most Localized Weather Forecasts From the Company's Network of Over 22,000 Personal Weather Stations

SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- Weather Underground, the world's first online weather service, announced today the availability of its new application for the iPhone, and Android. Available now for free in the iTunes Store and Android Market, this comprehensive weather app publishes data from the company's network of over 22,000 personal weather stations, therefore providing the most localized weather conditions and forecasts for locations across the world. Weather observations from these stations are recorded as often as every 2.5 seconds and ingested into Weather Underground's proprietary forecasting model, providing more granular forecasts than other weather sources.

The app also incorporates Weather Underground's acclaimed interactive weather map (WunderMap®) that allows users to select from different weather overlays including current conditions from the company's neighborhood stations, animated radar, satellite, webcams and severe weather updates.

"We have built our reputation upon providing the most reliable and in-depth weather data on the traditional web but recognize that weather is now the most consumed data among smartphone users," said Alan Steremberg, President of Weather Underground. "Our new iPhone and Android application delivers our unrivalled weather content within a slick interface, optimized for the touch screen experience."

In addition, the app displays an overview of local conditions including temperature, 'feels-like' temperature, wind speed and direction, humidity, dew point, visibility, pressure, gusts and moon phase.

Other features include:

7-day forecasts including text summary
Hourly forecasts including sunrise and sunset
Saved favorite locations and recent searches
Twitter integration -- share your weather with Twitter friends and follow the latest weather trends on the Twitter feed
Snow and winter sports reports -- iPhone specific
Leading weather commentary from Dr. Jeff Masters -- iPhone specific
