The Department of Environment and Climate Change, NSW (DECC) Cycling Training Voucher Program has been extended to 31 March 2010.

AustCycle is the result of over a decade of research, which has identified a strong need to develop a national cycling training scheme. It is a new venture designed to be the cycling equivalent of AUSTSWIM, which counts for approximately 400,000 swimming class participants each week.

AustCycle seeks to take advantage of and contribute to the significant increase in popularity that we have seen in cycling in recent years. This popularity has been fed by factors such as a concern for the environment, health and fitness, economic factors and the pure fun of riding bikes.

AustCycle is a joint venture between Cycling Australia, the Amy Gillett Foundation (AGF) and the Bicycle Federation of Australia (BFA) and was formally established in 2008 to deliver high quality cycling training, by accredited AustCycle Teachers to Australians of all ages so that they can ride further, more often, more confidently and more safely. This will result in more active, healthier, happier Australians and a safer, cleaner environment.

Throughout 2009 The Department of Environment and Climate Change, NSW (DECC) have provided a significant number of DECC Cycling Vouchers, each worth $360, FREE to companies, councils and community groups to provide adult AustCycle training courses for everyone from beginners to experienced riders.

Since its launch, the DECC Voucher Program has provided more than 150 groups with FREE cycling training. We are happy to announce that this program has now been extended to March 31, 2010, giving hundreds more the opportunity to take up this exciting offer.

For further information about the vouchers, contact DECC via email at [email protected] To apply for a voucher, simply fill in the DECC Faxback Form available on the AustCycle website.
