Thursday, December 8th, 2011 - The Pit FM
It was a big week at The Pit FM. Starting out with an in studio visit from heavyweights of Californian metal All Shall Perish on Tuesday afternoon. A visit that was so crazy that the other tenants in our office complex were reaching for ear plugs. Then on Thursday we had the privilege of obtaining preview access to the newest (and as yet un-named) song from Sydney band Thy Art Is Murder. Demand to hear the track was so insane that traffic to our website crashed the server twice and listener numbers at one stage reached 7,646 in the space of one hour. All up listener numbers on Thursday totalled 35,861 for the day and listener numbers in general stayed about 1,000 per hour through until 2am the following morning. By 1am on Saturday morning we had passed 100,000 listeners for the week with a final result over the 7 days to midnight Sunday of 116,055 listeners.

In other news our announcers in the UK scored an interview with UK band Release The Kraken and our Canadian show kicked off with its first episode.

This week see’s us airing interviews with UK black metal heavyweights Anaal Nathrakh, former singer of The Red Shore Roman Koester’s new band Boris The Blade, we will be having local Deathcore act I Am Eternal in studio for a chat and of course Michael Crafter will be back again for more on air misbehaviour.

The Pit FM

Launched June 27th, Perth based web-radio station The Pit FM plays nothing but punk, hardcore, post-hardcore and metal music along with all the latest news, reviews and interviews.

Listener numbers have rocketed up from an Average of 45-50,000 a week to over 95,000 per week over the 3 weeks since announcing Crafter’s joining the team just 3 weeks ago.

The Pit FM attracts listeners from all over Australia and the world, and we take pride in our focus on playing unsigned, often little known bands alongside bigger bands signed to labels from around the world. We have strong support from the bands, many of the independent labels and the music listeners.
