It looks likely that Panadol will be the number one headache/pain relief brand purchased over the ‘silly season’ ahead. And for those looking to load up on vitamins, it is likely Nature’s Own or Blackmores will be the supplement of choice, according to Roy Morgan Research September health data.

An estimated 10.4 million people, or 56% of the Australian population (14+), have purchased pain relief products in the last four weeks. When looking at the pain relief buying behaviours of the general population (14+), the 35-49 age group had the highest proportion of pain relief buyers. Within this group 75% of females and 57% of males had bought pain relief tablets/capsules in the last four weeks.

For those of us looking to take vitamins or supplements to help carry us through the stress of Christmas holidays, it looks likely Nature’s Own and Blackmores will be the most popular choice of brand. Of those who had taken vitamins or supplements in the last 12 months, 34% indicated they had taken Nature’s Own and 33% had taken Blackmores. This was followed by Swisse (16%) and Cenovis (12%).

Norman Morris, Industry Communications Director, Roy Morgan Research, says:

“When it comes to headache and pain relief tablets/capsules, females tend to be higher purchasers than men, however this is linked to women being the main shoppers within households. In relation to pain relief products bought, Panadol looks to be the most favoured brand.

“Nature’s Own and Blackmores look to be the two main vitamin/supplement brands taken, and a higher proportion of females consume these products than males.”
