Luxury sailing getaways have arrived in South Australia with the launch of Kangaroo Island Sailing by experienced husband and wife sailing duo Ashley and Renee Newman.
Trips onboard the 21-metre luxury ketch Lady Eugenie will include three-day, all-inclusive adventures to Kangaroo Island, day sails along the beautiful Fleurieu Peninsula coastline, romantic twilight sails and classy corporate packages to help executives unwind.
Skipper Ashley and marine biologist Renee, who have clocked up more than 20,000nautical miles, including working on luxury super yachts in the blue water playground of the Caribbean, will operate out of Marina St Vincent, an hour’s drive south of Adelaide at Wirrina Cove.
Ashley and Renee say the Lady Eugenie, one of only 15 Scorpios ever built, is stable and stylish, making her ideally-suited to cruise the waters and bays of Kangaroo Island and the Fleurieu Peninsula.
Features of the vessel include four queen-sized staterooms with ensuites, an alfresco dining area and a beautiful teak deck ideal for dolphin and whale spotting or just relaxing with a local wine or beer, reading a book or sunbathing.
Guests on the three-day adventure cruises to Kangaroo Island will be spoilt by a chef offering a range of gourmet meals and fresh local seafood complemented by the best local wines.
“Our experience in the Caribbean shows that people love to get away and relax on luxury cruises. They enjoy the scenery and being pampered with great food and great wine,” says Renee.
“Our aim is to prove a very relaxing journey while showcasing the world-class scenery and the waters teeming with wildlife including dolphins, Australian sea lions and New Zealand fur seals. From May to October there’s always a high chance of spotting Southern right whales.
“This is a luxury sailing adventure that people will always remember. Our anchorages will include the tranquil blue water of stunning Emu Bay on Kangaroo Island’s beautiful northern coast. Guests will be able to go ashore and relax on the sweeping, dazzling white beach.
“We will sail the North coast of Kangaroo Island where guests will see towering, rugged sea cliffs and breathtaking coves which are rarely visited.”
The package also includes a full-day island tour with leading luxury tour specialists Exceptional Kangaroo Island.
Day sails and twilight sunset cruises will run with a minimum of two guests and a maximum of 12. The day sails include a BBQ lunch, complimentary drink, morning and afternoon tea, while the twilight cruises include nibbles and a complimentary drink.
Renee says the Lady Eugenie provides the ultimate sailing adventure, whether people are after an intimate encounter with nature, a lazy sunbathed cruise or a hands-on experience, hoisting the sails and becoming involved.
“And with a maximum of eight passengers on overnight trips, plenty of personal space to enjoy the adventure is guaranteed,” she says.
Sailing options start at just $99 a person for a two-hour sunset cruise and up to $2500 per person for a three-day all inclusive Kangaroo Island adventure.
