Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009 - Australian Democrats
The Australian Democrats have announced Sydney technologist Geordie Guy as their new National Technology Policy Coordinator.

Currently a board member of Electronic Frontiers Australia, Mr Guy has been an active figure in the fight against internet censorship – the so-called ‘Clean Feed’ - proposed by the Rudd Government. He is a computer systems architect with a decade of experience working with business and people in the IT industry itself as well as other markets and a qualified network engineer.

The Technology Policy working group under Mr Guy’s direction will continue the Australian Democrats’ search for a better solution than censorship to current web content concerns through the nointernetcensorship.com campaign website. The working group will also work on issues such as access to broadband, technology infrastructure, and issues raised by how people interact in the online society.

“I want to see a civil, cohesive society that encompasses an online Australia as well as an offline one, in a framework of technically competent policy,” Mr Guy said.

Mr Guy is the first policy stream coordinator appointed under the new policy development process announced this week as part of the Rebuild of the Australian Democrats.
