Friday, July 17th, 2009 - Samaras Group
Adelaide, Australia – 16 July 2009 -- One of the country’s top engineering and construction firms, the South Australian based Samaras Group, has racked up another achievement that spells good news both for SA and the engineering and construction industry.

The company has just achieved certification for its ISO 9001 Quality Management System through leading Australian certification body, SAI Global.

At a time when money is tight and caution is the order of the day, hopes for economic recovery are pinned on the stimulus and jobs provided by major infrastructure and other construction projects. The decision by Samaras to move ahead with certification shows its confidence in continuing to provide tailored engineering and construction solutions both locally and nationally.

“Becoming certified to the world’s most widely recognised standard for Quality Management and coupling our brand with SAI Global’s ‘five ticks’ StandardsMark further reinforces our commitment to deliver high quality innovative solutions focused on satisfying each customer’s unique requirements,” said Managing Director, Michael Samaras.

“This certification is one further assurance that the level of capacity and control we offer is truly world’s best practice. It positions us to be a supplier of choice continuing to take on prominent projects of major complexity with the full confidence of our industry partners. In the process this secures our place as an industry leader and recognised name.”

SAI Global, which conducted the rigorous audits required to achieve certification, said that the entire Samaras team, from senior management to the shop floor, demonstrated extraordinary commitment in implementing the ISO 9001 Quality Management Standard and the kind of willingness to participate in the process that is the hallmark of a superior management system.

“A high level of staff involvement is one of the key measures of a management system’s effectiveness and Samaras is to be congratulated on this. It was a very skilled implementation that I fully expect to offer significant benefits to the organisation across the board,” said Duncan Lilley, Global Head of Assurance Services, SAI Global.

About the ISO 9001 Quality Management Standard

The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001 Standard for Quality Management is the world’s best recognised management system framework. Over one million organisations around the world are ISO 9001 certified.

The Standard requires an organisation to pay systematic attention to every aspect of its operations and set in place processes that ensure its specified goals and aims can be achieved in practice. A strong focus on customer satisfaction and continuous improvement are features of ISO 9001 certified organisations. The Standard is applicable to all industry sectors.

Once a management system is implemented, it can be assessed by an independent, third party certification body to ensure that it meets its stated aims and is in accordance with the requirements of the Standard.

SAI Global is Australia’s market leading certification body, with extensive experience in training, implementation, assessment and certification for all major management system types across all industry sectors, including many major organisations in the engineering and construction sector.
