The Multiple Sclerosis Society of SA & NT are excited to announce they are bringing the MS Mud Run to Adelaide. The mud-filled event will be held at Woodhouse Activity Centre in Piccadilly on November 5, 2011.

Proudly supported by SAFM and The Original Mud Run, the MS Society (www.ms.asn.au) is creating a unique fundraising event never before seen in Adelaide. Woodhouse at Piccadilly, in the picturesque Adelaide Hills, will be transformed into a hill-climbing, mud-crawling, fun-filled obstacle course of adventure and mud designed to challenge anyone aged 12 years and over.

People can participate in teams or as individuals in either a competitive or ‘fun' (recreational) division and are asked to fundraise for people living in South Australia with multiple sclerosis (MS).

"This event isn't just for the adventure seeker, it's for anyone seeking a fun challenge and who doesn't mind getting dirty in the process" MS Society Event Co-ordinator Emily Polomka said.

This is the first Original Mud Run in Australia after hugely successful events across the US raised over 1 million dollars to help in the fight to find a cure for MS.

MS is the most common neurological disease affecting young people. It interrupts the flow of information from the brain to the body and stops people from moving. The average age of diagnosis is 30, with the disease affecting more women than men.

The MS Society of SA & NT supports over 1,700 people living in South Australia with MS who rely on the Society for essential services.

"We are excited to host the first Australian MS Original Mud Run here in Adelaide and can't wait to see how many thrill seekers take up the challenge. I'm definitely in" CEO of MS Society, James Bardsley said.

"For people with MS, movement is a constant challenge and they often face new obstacles. This event is a perfect metaphor for such challenges as participants will have to overcome obstacles in their own race to the finish," Mr Bardsley said.

Grab your friends, family, colleagues and neighbours; it's time to get dirty Adelaide.
